Can Anyone recommend a good auto shipping service?
I have made the decision to finally purchase an S. I have found a great one (thanks to a reference on this board) that I'm very interested in. I would need to have it shipped from michigan to st. louis. I'd like to do it for around $500 if at all possible. Can anyone recommend a good service?
I have used McNutt Auto Transport 3 times now with good result. My S2000 got FILTHY but that was due the road conditions - a chance you take with an open transport - and it all cleans off anyway.
Very inexpensive for a non-enclosed transport. It was $425 (3 years ago) from WI (past Green Bay) to Nashville, so I would think $500 from MI to MO would be doable for $500 or less.

My Dad uses the same people every time he buys a Vette from wherever. Top Gun transport is grade A. It is fully enclosed trailer. But the best part is that once the car is on the trailer it does not come off. Other companies will load and unload the car several times during one trip. This is not so with Top Gun. The trailer has hydraulic lifts that allow the cars to be moved around and make any car accessible. The last car we brought came from Georgia to New York. It cost $900+ a C Note tip for the excellent service. I don't have the phone number with me, but a quick run through a search engine should find it.
I can name several other transport companies, but munckee said he needed to move the car for $500 or less
The others I talked to this last time were several hundred more for open transport and enclosed is even more.

Yeah, I'm trying to keep the costs down. This car is already a bit more than I wanted to spend, but I'm thinking that I may go ahead and bite the bullet considering how few miles are on it.

I'm not sure the deal is going to work out. With shipping, taxes, new tires, etc, it ends up being just a bit out of my price range. I'm willing to spend more than the $20K I was originally working with, but I'm still trying to stick to my new budget pretty carefully.
