when i need a boost, i just turn it off temporarily. for instance if i am entering a freeway onramp i will turn it off, or if i see some punk wanting some i will just press the ac button right quick. i wouldn't autox w/ my a/c on though

It's a Honda, not an exotic. I drive her hard when I want, regardless of the temp. Never had the temp gauge go above 3 bars (AP1) either. Running Mobil 1 syn. Stay up on the maintenance and have fun with it.
i still love posts like this one. so when and if u have an exotic car made for the sole purpose of performance, you wouldn't drive it hard...

That's correct, if I had an exotic, it wouldn't be my DD, and I sure as hell wouldn't driving it around in the hot-ass afternoon when it's 115+.

while on the ac topic my cousin seems to think that turning off the ac before u start ur car puts less strain on the motor, i dont think this is true. Anyone?

I'm not sure if it's true. However, I was taught to do this before I was even old enough to drive and that's what I do. It makes sense though.

i'm pretty sure the ac doesnt engage until a sec or two after starting. my mom's van is like that and with that van you can really tell when the engagement is.

going past 5/8th throttle with the air conditioning on recirc and fan speed above 4 notches will instantly detonate your engine.

i really wish honda had put a warning on the center console
Can someone confirm if this is true?

well it does put extra stress on the motor because the ac compressor needs to be driven... however, whether it strains the motor to any detriment is contentious.

im a little obsessive compulsive, so i always start the car w/ AC off... and i turn AC off for 10 seconds before shutting the motor off to get refrigerant through the lines or whatever old mechanics myth i have ingrained in me

and AC always off when merging for extra VTECH POWER!
