In NYC, if you carpool a bridge or tunnel the toll would be only $2 versus $8. I put the top up on the S had a buddy in passenger and went through carpool without a problem. Checked my EZpass account later that night and she gave me the carpool price!

I don't know about specific rules, but I would imagine a car at 100% capacity would count for carpooling.

Here in OR and WA, Motorcycles are allowed in carpool lanes and such because they are a low occupancy and basically full with a single rider (technically).

The S could be argued the same way maybe?

So I drove around in NYC since 2005 without even knowing that I am overpaying tolls?! Can you be more specific which tunnel or bridge has a car pool discount? Also, how do they know how many people you have in the car to charge you less? I have EZ-pass and the tolls have always been the same (except for the recent hike) regardless of whether I am alone or with someone else.
