This is one of those " How big are your 8 X 10's" threads right ?

It's almost hard to believe someone would ask this.

I had a dealer tech tell me it was bad for the car (he had a customer's a/c fail doing it) Hope this helps

That's b/c his dad probably told him that to save gas mileage or something. There is no physical or mechanical explanation or proof that running the A/C while the windows or top or anything is open will affect the car. That's like saying "Is it ok to turn my headlights on while it's still light outside?"

BTW, there is a convertible top down mode on the A/C controls. If you look, one of the settings has a pic of the car without a top. When it's set to this mode it suppose to optimize the flow of air so more stays in the cabin. Basically, Honda is saying "it's ok."

When it's in the top down mode the air comes out of the little vents that are just above the stereo, and a little comes out of the left vent next to the door. Kinda wierd cause when the sun is beating down on you its usually your face and head that gets hot, and it does absolutley nothing for you.. but whatever.. :-p

Top down mode is great for heat in winter, but with the a/c on, it just gives me cold feet. I just use the 'full face' mode and it works better.

Yeah close off the passenger vent (when no one is in the car with you) and use the the full face mode. You'll get a better result.
