Can passenger side airbag be shut off?
Search doesnt seem to be working so sorry if this is answered elsewhere.
Is there a shutoff or a sensor (what weight? or is it seatbelt based?) for the passenger side airbag? Just wondering if I would be able to bring my son along with me sometime if I get an S2K.
thanks in advance
Scott

If you disconnect the SRS, (Yellow connector) you will have to perform this procedure as the SRS will no longer function until you erase the DTC memory.
Erasing the DTC Memory:
Special tool required SCS service connector 07PAZ-0010100
To erase the DTC(s) from the SRS unit
1. Make sure ignition is off.
2. Connect the SCS service connector to the MES 2P connector. The manual says not to use a jumper wire, but I don't see why you can't.
3. Turn the ignition switch on (II).
4. The SRS indicator will come on for about 6 seconds, and then go off. Remove the SCS service connector from the MES connector within 4 seconds after the indicator goes off.
5. The SRS indicator will come on again. Reconnect the SCS service connector to the MES connector within 4 seconds after the indicator goes on.
6. When the SRS indicator goes off, remove the SCS service connector from the MES connector within 4 seconds.
7. The SRS indicator will blink two times indicating that the memory has been erased.
8. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for 10 seconds.
9. Turn the ignition switch on (II) again. The SRS is ok if the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.
I couldn't tell you exactly where the MES connector is without going out to my car and looking under the dash. I also don't know why the Helm manual says not to jump it either as the service connector is basically a jumper
I could get a better idea if I had a good look at the MES 2P connector (under the dash)
This is a simple procedure that consists of jumping, or should I say, connecting the service connector to the MES 2P connector under the dash and simply following the above procedure.
It's either this, or pay the dealer 90 bucks.

You could probably make your own service connector by simply connecting two long wires to a toggle switch. Just insert the wires into the MES 2P connector and simply turn the toggle on and off during the procedure.
