Default can the s2k compete?

I am likely going to be an s2000 owner soon. I currently drive an 03 6sp 350Z. Though I love my Z, i am going to have to part with it, and i will most likely get an s2k instead.

I have heard a lot of things about this car. i know that a lot of Z owners have test driven the s2k, and after being used to the torquey v6, the s2k feels like crap to them. but i have also heard that s2k vs 350z is a driver's race. does anybody know how these cars match up?

also, one of my fav things about the Z was owning almost ever car on the road. my kill list is very long, and my most memorable kill (although maybe not the most impressive) was a new sl500. for anyone that has had an s2k for a while, how have u stacked up against most cars?

although i will miss the Z, i am sure the s2k wont dissapoint me. any answers would be appreciated. thanks

I have both. The s2000 wins to 100 mph(maybe by a car), then the outcome depends. My kill list is very long with both also. The s2000 is more fun...

you have to drive the S properly to be fast. you cant rely on torque to save your ass for a bog or slow shift.

i havent run 1 yet but ive watched an enthuesist 6sp own an AP2 off a light. i destroyed the same guy in my VR4....i dont think he can drive too well. then again ive destroyed a few Zs pretty bad too so thats not sayin much

from videos ive seen it seems to be a drivers race with the Z being easier to drive fast.

Though the s2000 is not much of an accelerator (neither is the 350z -- they are pretty equal) I think the s2000 is much more fun and rewarding to drive.

Ha ha... if you're interested in "pwning" other cars in stoplight races, the S2000 might not be the best car for you.

Don't get me wrong, it's a great car... but it sounds like your priorities may be in areas where the S2000 does not necessarily shine.

S is the best for the buck when come to fun car to drive, but not for over take other car at a stoplight. Unless you are thinking about SC or turbo it.

No, it cannot compete.

Keep your Nissan, or better yet, just take the bus.

in a straight line they are equal. though the 350Z has a bit more on freeway speeds, and is more forgiving.

in handling it's the S2000.

as for fun factor, looks, etc, that's all subjective, so really it's up to you!

I'm pretty much in line with a lot of other folks. I found the Z and the G35 coupe forgiving and yes, nicely torquey. If I were looking to do more 1/4's, or looking to mod the heck out of a car, the Z and esp. the Evo would be at the top of my list.

I would HIGHLY reccommend driving the S before you buy. It's not for everyone.

The 350Z is indeed more forgiving of a ride than the S2K... But that's actually what attracts me to the S2K so much, and why I look forward to driving it every time. It's kind of like a challenge--I NEED to learn how to drive this thing well and tap into its true potential, because it sure as hell ain't giving me any breaks
