Why are you making the shift from the 350Z to the S2000 by the way? Just curious. I mean, I would think that given the similar pricing, most people had the option of either or from the get go, and you obviously went with the Z for some reason.

In a word.... yes.

Before I bought my S2, I test drove an '05 Z Track model, IIRC. It had good torque and pulled strong off the line. Beyond that, however, it was a real disappointment.

Within 3-4 miles of both the Nissan and Honda dealership are twisty roads that many would kill for. I am very familiar with them from years of sport bike riding. When I took the Z along my "test" route, it felt heavy and non responsive. The interior felt and looked cheap. Visibility was poor; my wife commented that she felt that she was in a submarine.

I really wanted to like the Z. I came very close to buying a 240Z when they first came out and regretted passing on it all these years. Try as I did though, I couldn't get even a remote sense of connection with the car.

Driving the S2 was like getting into a custom designed cockpit and having all systems respond exactly like I wanted. The Z felt more like a straight line muscle car than a sports car (and it still didn't feel as strong as the S2 when the S2 is driven as it was designed to be driven).

also, one of my fav things about the Z was owning almost ever car on the road....
Well if the Z owned most cars on the road you'll like the S. They are very comparable in straight line accelleration. I remember running one way back just after their release. My sister was with me and she loved the Z. After the brutal beatdown she could not believe how slow they are.

Why are you selling your Z? You might want to check insurance, the z is cheaper.

you have to drive the S properly to be fast. you cant rely on torque to save your ass for a bog or slow shift.

i havent run 1 yet but ive watched an enthuesist 6sp own an AP2 off a light. i destroyed the same guy in my VR4....i dont think he can drive too well. then again ive destroyed a few Zs pretty bad too so thats not sayin much

from videos ive seen it seems to be a drivers race with the Z being easier to drive fast.
hey you have a 1st gen vr4, I used to have a 2nd gen vr4

Having had both, imo the S wins in every way.

i'm sure you'll love the s2k! test drive one and tell us what you think
to tell you the truth if the s2k is not driven well, the Z will own it...but if you are a good driver they are both very comparable...lower speeds= s2k higher speeds=Z
good luck with you choice

Just recently got rid of my 03 Z 6spd a couple weeks ago for the S. IMO they are both awesome cars for the money and very close in all performance aspects. I have to say the S is way more fun to drive with the top down ripping gears to 9k rpms it's an incredible feeling!!

If you're interesting in 'owning' most cars on the road drag racing, the S2000 or the 350Z isn't your ticket. Trying a domestic V8, preferably a GTO, Vette, or blown Cobra.
