Default Can windshield glass be repaired?

Can windshields can be repaired? I have a little circular chip, about 1/8" in diameter at most, in my windshield. It has not developed any "spiderweb" fractures.

The glass shop tells me the most that can be done is to put some stuff around it so it doesn't spread. According to them, there is no way to actually repair it to look like new.

Is this true? Just wanted to confirm since I'm totally clueless about this. Thanks.

Good luck...I've heard they are good and most insurance companies allow you to use them and will cover the repair with no deductable.

Not only will most insurance companies cover the repair at no cost to you, Novus will even send a truck out to your office (or home or whatever) and do it on the spot, so you don't even need to take time off. Call your insurance company, and if you are with AAA, they will even arrange an appointment for you.

I believe a no deductible only happens on a windshield claim. So if you have a crack, you can usually get it fixed at no cost through your insurance.

In South Carolina, if you carry a low enough comprehensive deductable, there is no deductable for glass repairs (windshield or otherwise). It's about the only good thing about South Carolina insurance.

Outside of South Carolina, many other insurance companies will offer no deductable for minor repairs to chips. Their thought is, if they pay the $20 to get it fixed, it drastically reduces the chances that the windshield will split and they'll have to pay for a new windshield (or a new windshield minus the typical deductible). Even if the windshield does split once in a while, on average the insurance company is better off.

That's what kind of insurance I have. hehehe
