Just got word that my insurance is going up on my MY01. The stats our out there, and I'm sure you guys/gals have seen the threads. Between careless drivers (the majority, IMO) and thefts, insurance companies are raising the rates on the car (at least in Maryland). In case this is not obvious, whenever there is any claim on a automobile, the claim gets registered on a national database accessible and contributed to by all insurance underwriters, which consequently populates data on that particular type of car, which builds into a insurance pricing model on that model vehicle, which insurance companies structure policies on, (you see where I am going...). Thank you to those who total their cars for careless driving. And no, I am not accusing the few people out there who were involved in incidents b/c of a "true" accident. At the rate we're going, we'll have a 50% attrition rate on our cars to match the 50% increase in policy rates.

Funny that a policy on a new M3 is $800 less than a MY01 S2000... And no tickets or accidents over 13 years of driving...

M3 is higher here, by a significant amount. The highest of the cars I looked at was the Mercedes Benz SLK 32AMG, that was 30% higher than the S2000 with my limits of coverage.

All these crashes remind me of some of the Motorcycle message boards. It seems like there is a major crash every week.

Rt 211 over Thorton Gap in VA, seems to claim a lot of bikes.

Seems to be a lot of inexperienced riders/drivers....to much youthful exuberance..

I would bet if Porsche 911's were only 30K, there would lots of crashed 911's

I agree with that POV... Maybe to make the S2000 more affordable, Honda should raise the price

All one has to do is read our Street Encounters to see how many of the Ss are in "accidents". It just makes mine more rare.

I'm only paying $600 per year for full coverage on my '00. It actually went down 6 months ago. I guess I'll see the increase on my next policy. If all S2000's could reach 75k w/o any accidents, there would be alot of them needing legitimate paint jobs due to rock chips.

Seems like alot of s2000 wrecks take place in the rain.

So many Corvettes are owned by older men who don't drive to the limits ...ever....therefore Corvette rates are realativly low.

think about it this way. Every dead s2000 makes your more rare, and so eventually worth more.

The S2000 surely isn't known for understeer. The S2000s twitchy behavior catches a lot of inexperienced drivers off guard.
