Default Can you really order a s2k?

I've been waiting to get a white S2k for a couple months now. My dealer says that you can't order one. He said that if some one is saying they are ordering one, what is really happening is that they are just getting the next car that is allocated to the dealer.

He said White is hard to come by and that the next one that comes in, I will get, but he doesn't know when or if they will get another white 2001.

I really have no reason to doubt him (he wants to sell, I want to buy), but it has been a long wait and I'm afraid in another month, I will be forced into a 2002 (not a bad thing, just a longer wait).

So back to the subject? Can you really order a s2k?

Yes they can order, but there are probably not too many 2001 S2Ks left. Most of them have already been ordered by now. Each dealer's allotment number is determined by # of Honda sales the previous year, but a few extras do pop up from time to time.

I ordered mine. When I first went to the dealership he said he did not have any allocations left. He then called me back a couple of weeks later and said he got another allocation and that he could order the Silver and Red I wanted. He placed the order June 6 and the car arrived at the dealership Aug 31. This was a 2000MY BTW.

I have no clue if the car was already built and waiting or if they actually built it as a result of the order. I did not get that info.

I ordered my silver/black.

I placed my deposit in April, 2000. The dealer got the allotment in mid July for his first MY2001 car, mine. After he placed the color choice for that allotment, it was fixed in concrete. Mine was made August 23 and delivered to the dealer October 27th. All of the first month's worth of MY2001s were delayed a month or so to do the seat belt recall that was announced 10 October.

So, to answer your question, you can choose color if you place a deposit BEFORE the dealer gets the allotment.

Thanks for the replies.

For those that ordered how did you go about it (Sales/Fleet/Internet Manager)? Did you pay MSRP?

Any help/opinions from Arizona buyers out there that have ordered?

There doesn't seem to be much inventory in the state, go figure with it being 108 degrees all the time, I thought this would be prime time to buy a convertible!

I gave him a $500 deposit using my credit card over the cell phone. I paid over MSRP to get mine.

My story. I call dealer on Apr 27, 01 about the move (ordering). He says that they received an allocation to order but it's got a deposit. Calls me back 2 hrs. later to tell me the depositor bought a car elsewhere. He then says be here in 15 minutes with a $1000 & it's yours. Upon my arrival they ask what color I wanted & replied WHITE. I questioned it's availability to which they replied we've orederd 20 over the last two MY's & received the color requested. BUT, they had only ordered ONE W/R previously an 00. They have assured me the car WILL be WHITE. I said if it's NOT I'm taking my $1000 & business elsewhere. The odd thing is that it was ordered 4/27 & they still don't have a VIN yet. They've been telling me "any day" for a couple of weeks now. They've also said it will be 20 to 25 days before it arrives once the VIN is available. Crossing my fingers that it is in fact W/R because at that point my only options will be to take the car despite the color or wait on a 02. An 02 will mean riding my bicycle to work from 8/26 (current lease matures) till it arrives probably in November.
