To buy an S2K in Canada seems like a ripoff because the starting price is slightly more than $50,000CAD which currently is about $44,432.60 U.S. dollars according to Google. No one in their right minds in the US would pay that unless the warranty never expires. However buying from the US with Canadian money you save yourself more than $15,000 right there because $30,000USD us about $33,759. And that's if you buy a new S2K. Used S2000s go for anything from $23,000-$45,000 Canadian from what I can find.

Do most canadian buyers buy from the states, hold out for a sweet deal, or suck it up, bend over, and pay whatever the dealer wants?
OK, would you rather have a "62 cent dollar" like it was 2 years ago? At that time the s2k was actually cheaper here. Vehicle manufacturers will not change pricing to reflect exchange rates b/c it make the pricing too volitile and thus possibly the demand.

I wasn't complaining about the strength of our dollar, and I was unaware that this is something that has come up a million times because it is fairly recently that our dollar has finally gained back some strength. My question was whether or not most of the Canadian members pay more than they need to for a new or used S2K.

jaws: that makes sense from a business perspective, but not from a buyer standpoint.

No big deal. I was just curious. Thanks to those who replied.

Yeah, I'd like to know where in Western Canada you're going to find one for 43K. Even if you buy a brand new current model year when the next model year is sitting on the dealer lot, 43K is a BIG reeeaaaach! I'd like to see specifics on where, when, how.

One of my friends back in December 2005, right before it turned into 2006, Got a brand new 2005 Berlina Black from a Dealer in Vancouver B.C. for $43,600 before taxes (600 was for the stupid oem spoiler which they forced him to buy). He found a deal in the middle of no where in B.C. at some remote car dealership online in the buy and sell, then told the Dealer locally to match it. The dealer was Carter Honda on Burrard. He had to go back to Asia, so he sold the car to an Acura dealership for $37,000 with like 6000 KM on it. Then it sold the following week for $41,000.

Just wanted to give some input, I helped him detail and clean the car before he sold it, that's the only reason I know all the details. If you need more details just PM me about it.

It is possible because I think I was last told there wasa a 5-6g's Rebate on the S2000's from Honda at certain dealerships. Like even the Acura dealership knew this when he sold them his S2000. So it seems as though nearer to the end of the year a 50-51g's MSRP S2000 List becomes like 45-47g's depending on what dealer you go and if they got left over inventory. Althought he never paid PDI or freight it was 2005 model basically in 2006, but still he got a the best deal for a new S2000 out of anyone in western Canada that I know of.
