Canadian Question
First time post, long time reader....
As a Canadian I have noticed that although the exchange rate has gotten better and better for us the American cost of an S2k is still unchanged around 33k. Is it just me or does this equate to about 38k-40k our dollars, around 12k less than our Canadian price??? Is there any way to purchase a vehicle down south without huge penalties and if so has anyone done this and can provide experience and info?
Second question, (I swear I haven't seen this topic in the last while so I apoligize if it's another stupid nubie question): If VTEC kicks in around 6000k on the Tach until the limit on the newer S2K's is there any way you can change this so that it kicks in earlier so that you would have more power (all valves) across a broader spectrum? I don't care about gas mileage so is there any reason why this couldn't be done and if so what would the dissadvantages be?
Thanks in advance for your help, WILL be buying an S2k in the near future so not just wasting people's time.

To your first question all your answers are here (and yes, it has been done before by some Canadian members on this board):
http://www.riv.ca (Duty = 6.1%, PST/GST = 15%), and the only modifications you need to do to it are Daytime Running Lights.
If you live on the east coast, from what I hear, Ganley Honda (Ohio) is the best place to buy your US s2000.
Good luck!

Not a rocket scientist here, but if you want VTEC to kick in earlier you just have to get a VTEC contraller. Greddy, APEX-i, and others make one, and they arent that bad to install from what I understand. However, I do know that Honda has done their homework on the VTEC RPM settings. If you had some major mods (SC or TC, with fuel management) that might be a more prudent thing to alter. Basically, by lowering the VTEC RPMs you might not get any extra horsepower, just crappy gas mileage.
On the listed website it mentions that you must get metric conversion stickers for the speedometer. Since this one is digital what happens? Can you get the display to read kph instead of mph?
Thanks
Thanks
Yes, there is a button on the display that allows you to toogle between KM/H and MP/H. This changes speed print out and mileage. The reason that our cars haven't changed in price is that if you talk to honda canada now they say that the prices are in relation to the Yen, not the American dollar, but i'm sure it was related to the American dollar before when the dollar was strong. What really should happen then is that the american price should come up, but guaranteed the government would never allow that so Japan is forced to keep the price down.
One thing to watch when bringing an american car across the border new or used i think warranty is voided. Or at least canadian dealerships with not service. This is what i have heard, don't know for sure.
