Canadians - Insurance
So, I've been trying to buy an S (long story) and in the mean time, I checked insurance rates. The insurance on an S is only $60 more per year than my 1.7 EL. I love it!!
Are all canadians privy to such reasonable rates? Most S drivers up here are more than 40 years old, so I think that may be the reason.
Now, all I gotta do is sell my EL. Everyone that calls asks if it's automatic, even though the ad says 5 spd. standard. No-one wants a standard 4 door

Where in Canada do you live. Every province is different and so is every city.
In Toronto the guys seem to pay $2-3 THOUSAND more than I do in Ottawa.
Lots of young owners, you would be surprised, especially in Toronto where money is no object

hehe ya, we have more money then we know what to do with!
I'm 31, and pay $1580 a year for insurance, but drop the collision and stuff over the winter so it comes to about $1140 a year

I'm in Calgary... most of the rich guys here are older, I don't see all that many kids with nice cars around here. Alot of SUV's and trucks though, and insurance on those is
I'm 32, and I'll be paying about $1000 for the whole year. Drop 4 months of winter, and it's pretty damn good. My insurance on my 1997 Jeep is the same as it would be on my S2K. Damn SUV drivers here are always running into stuff (like cars that stop better)

I'm one of the older guys in our group and I pay about $1100.00/year, 500 deductible. Some of the younger fellas have indicated they are in the thousands per year.
Canadian insurance is CHEAP? That's certainly news to me.
I used to live in Vancouver, B.C. about 6 months ago, and I had a Z4 2.5 there.
I was 22 yr old. 6 years of driving experience with no accident, not a single ticket. I think I had either a 35% or 40% discount. Yet my insurance cost $6000 CDN / year.
Now I've moved to Seattle, and bought a brand new Z4 3.0 here. I'm now 23, with 1 speeding ticket. Bigger engine, slightly worse driving record, and me being slightly older, my insurance cost about $2000 U.S / year with Geico.

But back on topic, I think the insurance is only cheap in some parts of Canada, I am getting raped hard as well in Vancouver. I think it was like 4000 with just 15% off.
I was in a Honda dealership last week. The salesman (saleskid?) was probably in his early 20's. He had an '04. He was paying $400 a month for insurance. He said it was more than his car payment.

There are really young S2000's owners around here who have tickets and are paying in that higher range.
