In Vancouver, your insurance rates varies depending on what you are using the car for. If you have to use it for school and work, the rates are higher because you, "supposedly," would have a high risk of accident. Also, the distance you have to drive to school/work also contributes to a higher insurance. Not only this, but black, yellow, and red cars are also another thing insurance can increase! It's ridiculous in BC.

Never heard of anything like this before. I would buy a white car and have it painted if this is the case.

That would work, but here, you have to tell the insurance companies of your new paint change! It's one of their laws. Ahh, ICBC is shitty.

My apologies. This will explain a great deal. If the insurance industry perceives a car as being that much more to repair, it will be reflected in the premium. I've heard a lot of hate stories about "Ickkie Bikkie" (ICBC).
