All these workarounds and hacks are fine, but this is a job, not school or college. If management has said 'No play', or even if they've just infered it by firewall settings that means they don't want you to play. If you manage to sneak around it you'll probably get caught and then your job is on the line. Sure you could waste a bunch of court time fighting it but wouldn't it be better not to get in that situation in the first place.
If you really are valuable to the company negotiate your access. If they say no, live with it.
I wish the management here would ban my access but unfortunately I'm self employed (or not, as the case may be).

squeezer: adverstising your proxy server with no ACL's on a public site is madness! Besides the increased usage of your precious bandwidth, you're opening yourself up to problems, and possible legal liabilities.
If you are really nice, you might be able to convince your network admins to enter the following lines in their PIX.
filter url except 0 0 216.120.113.130 255.255.255.255
Of course the likelyhood of them doing that is slim to none. In fact, it is probably none, but they will get a good laugh when you call and ask for it.
If they are running Checkpoint you can do some other things.
The ideas about the IP address won't work. Also, you probably don't have any proxy server on the network and thus default route is taking your off-net. If that is the case then they are tracking it all.
Creates some nice reports as well. Do you get a login box whenever you open up a web browser?

As for hosting PCAnywhere on a persistenly connected PC. I don't know...
There is something about leaving open a remote control application on my home computer that I would not be to fond of. Now, if you knew the addresses that you would be coming from, then you could at least apply some restrictions.
Dean, the best advice that I can give you is to get a job with a car company. Then you won't have a problem with the sites.

I've used PC Anywhere, VNC, and Exceed. VNC and Exceed work pretty well, bur PC Anywhere is SLOW.
I'd suggest you either leave it alone, or talk to mangement about it, since you work so many hours there.

I would say that the reality is that you should leave it alone. Of course this also disproves the ongoing arguement in off-topic that board management should restrict adult posts because companies may block on that.
