Default Can't get convertible boot on?

For whatever reason I can't get the boot on. There is just not enough space between the top and the roll hoops to clip the cover. Is this normal?

Does anyone have an easy way of doing this? I am starting to think my top isn't going down far enough or something...

It is a tight fit. I just slide mine down while lining up the fasteners and they snap in place by themselves. I had a little trouble when I first got the car, but it's a snap now (pun intended).

It is possible that your top isn't retracting all the way, but that usually doesn't happen until the car is a little older and the elastic in the top gets weak.

Keep at it, it'll get easier.

Actually, it's quite easy once you figure out the technique. It takes about a minute to install or remove. I'll continue to use the boot because it looks better with it on and keeps road dirt off of the top.

If its stored in a cool place try leaving it out in the sun for a little bit then installing it it will make it a little more flexible and easier to install.

I agree, it is a pain in the ass to get on. Especially when new. I had one given to me earlier today from an x-owner that never used it, and it took me about 15 min. to fandangle it on. But it looks way better to me than just a folded top!

Try this. Once you have it placed on the car, just kind of "hook" one of the holes (left or right side) on the "pin" dont try to clip it on. Then tuck the back flaps, give a twist to the side straps before snapping them on ( to reduce wind flap) and your done. Stays on just fine. You dont need to snap either rear snap. Unless you are doing loops on a hot wheels track it wont come off even at highway speeds.

That is a great idea, twisting the end pieces to reduce wind noise, I'm going to have to try that.

Make sure your top is folding correctly as well. One of the supporting bars has a bad tendency to fold up on itself, preventing the boot to go on (at all). I thought you had to squeeze it on there at first as well, but when you put the top down, just push the bar back behind you so it sits under the folded top. If it folds right, the boot is cake to put on.
