Make sure your top is folding correctly as well. One of the supporting bars has a bad tendency to fold up on itself, preventing the boot to go on (at all). I thought you had to squeeze it on there at first as well, but when you put the top down, just push the bar back behind you so it sits under the folded top. If it folds right, the boot is cake to put on.

Which bar exactly are you talking about?

It's the center bar above your head when the top is closed. If the elastic bands get worn, they have trouble pulling that bar back to fold properly. If the bar doesn't move, the bar sticks out above the rest of the top when folded. NEVER allow this to happen! It causes risk for the bar to catch on the latches and break them which also can tear a nice hole in the top. I know...it happened to me.

Back to the boot topic. I have had my car over 4 years and still use mine from time to time. It does get easier to put on. I have more trouble taking it off though. The damn snaps don't release very easy.

Just to update this thread - Matt had the wining answer.

I got the roof down today in sunny (but cool) Toronto weather. Looks like my top was not folding down correctly ... pushed the first bar back as it was folding down and low and behold the boot is easy as pie to put on!

Rev_Happy also wins for a correct answer

I am pretty amazing my new '08 was not folding down correctly. Must have been the cold weather.
