i have the honda stook cover and use it almost daily (and i park indoors). i notice that it has to be washed about every 3 weeks or so or it starts leaving a strange film on the car, and actually makes the car look worse than without using the cover-

1. anyone know what this film is?

2. how often do you wash your covers?

3. what do you wash it in (i use the porsche top shampoo, as it is very mild).

4. i wash mine in the washing machine, but the instructions say to wash it on the car... just cant bring myself to do that- does anyone wash it on the car and let it dry there? does that really work?

thanks for the help...

I use my cover all the time, I've never seen this film. Is it sticky? or like fuzz?

neither... like an extremely thin film- not sticky, not fuzzy. might not see it on a car that is not black. black shows everything!

I only really notice it on the trunk where it collects as I roll the cover up. If this is the "stuff" its not so bad.

I have used my cover for awhile now. I noticed that if the car is hot when the cover is put on then the car does appear to have a film/sheen on it when I take it off. I figured it was the heat and humidity working on the wax (I don't use synthetic).

Is the HONDA cover the one that seems to be the best? I've heard a few names bounced around, but I'm just curious which brand would be the best for my car.

wanabe, I also have the honda car cover and have noticed this strange film. it is not oily, but more like a murky water that has dried on the finish. luckily it comes off easily with a wash. i figured that washing the cover in a commercial size washer would put an end to this. it did not. maybe dew from the night builds up and mixes with dust on the finish resuling in a light film?

also have you noticed that the mirror pockets are not sewed on evenly. on the driver side they are placed high near the roof seam. on the passenger side the pocket is mounted lower, about 8 inches from the roof seam. manybe the one i have is defective? anyone shed any light on this?
