The engine was, and still probably is, the best performing engine (of its type) out of pretty much any car ever made.

Basically, when they designed the thing, they went all out. If there was any room for improvement, then they improved it before even releasing it. That said, how can they increase the power without completely scrapping and redesigning the entire thing?

I'm not sure this is something that we should turn around and hold against them...

As for the article...maybe some can post it? There's a whole discussion going on here about an article that most people don't see....

Honda could have done a few tweeks and put the Ap2 number at 250 or 255 hp.Most people say it dynos higher then the Ap1.

The S2000 to me is a pure pleasure!! I know it has not changed much in the last 10 years. But i don't think Honda could have pushed any more performance out of this car with out going Forced Induction. Now i am looking at other cars not due to performance, but more for a luxury ride with more room. I'm looking into G37,335I,Lexus,G35. But i am more than likely just going to keep the S2000 and buy one of these cars in about 3 years when my S is payed off. I enjoy driving the car so much and its so simple to maintain this sports car. But i do agree that Honda needs to step it up with a new sports car in the next couple of years, right now there to focused on hybrids. Want to save money on gas don't drive so much thats what i say about hybrids. I get a average of 25-27MPG and loving every minute of it!!

lol awhile back someone posted a similar comparo when the s2k was on top - it beat a 350z, a 330i (or was it a 325?) and a few other cars. The car that came in dead last was a Mazda Miata. All the Mazda guys were making this same excuse - shitty driver taking a bad line. I guess the fact that the Miata was down about 80hp compared to everyone else had nothing to do with it?

The names change but the excuses are the same.

Sorry, I have a blast driving my s2k and it still beats a lot of cars, but the cars that it can't beat are becoming more numerous. Honda just hasn't kept up with what they started.
