dont rag on them americans yet mang. that ecotec 4banger is pretty lethal when done right, just like any other 4banger that honda makes.
lets face it...we just dont have a 'uberfastcar' ......unless youre boosted/ITB'd.
that + gm now knows they have to make a 'sports coupe' that can try to compete with the civic si's and stuff...

Every test I see with the Si/S2k there pads faded, leaving them with 2-3 laps and bad brake fade.
Ps. I've tracked the above cars and I can definitely tell you these guys in the magazine should get a few lessons.
FWD especially in the new Cobalt feels easier to drive due to the increased toque and less wheel hop. The Lotus does and will always be faster on a track.
End of story.

^^i will be interested to hear how they compare.
as someone who made the descision to buy an S pretty recently, i am fine to see that it isnt the absolute fastest around the track (we all already knew that). the cobalt loses on visual appeal, reliability, build quality, interior, not a convertible. and besides, my S was only 16 grand, so all that really matters is that it is a hell of a lot faster than a Fit or an optioned out kia!

with a big brake kit and new pads the CR should win, I've said before the brakes on this car are a weak point and I was amazed Honda didn't upgrade them on the CR, if they would have, I probably would have sprung for it

^ If anything we need more juice coming out of the corners.
I think a better final-drive gear + simply having better pads + fluid would make a world of difference.
If you watch the Hot Version video with the AP1, AP2 and J Boy in a slightly modded AP2 that has I believe an intake and 4.77 FD.. he SMOKES Keiichi who is piloting the AP2 I believe.
I think if he was in a CR with the same mods it would be an even more massive gap due to less weight and better front suspension.

LOL
They could only get .86 g's out of the Elise SC in sector 1
Also, the Evo's time in sector 1 is unusually slow (probably due to the driver), otherwise it would have beaten the Cobalt SS.
