Default Car&Driver should eliminate the feature and amenities catagory.

The August Car&Driver roadster comparo has the S2000 beating all the competition but if they eliminate the Features and Amenities heading the S2000 really kicks ass. The final standing without Features and Amenities would look like this.

Honda S2000 92 points
Porsche Boxster 85
Nissan 350 Z 82
BMW Z4 3.0 81
Audi TT 225 76

I think the fact that the Audi cupholders are more ergonomic than the S2000's should not come into play in a test of "alleged" sports cars.

I think you guys misunderstand...the final score is NOT a compilation of the scores in those categories. They are simply a comparison of the factors in the different cars. For instance, that just tells you that the S2000 does not have nearly the amentities that the others do. The actual 1-100 score is an entirely separate thing. I think that the features and amentities is valid, because it shows you that the S2000 is a more serious sports car than the TT, for instance All that said, I think it's worthless to discuss things like cupholders in sports cars, but the fact that the S2000 won and it is 4 years old shows that C/D didn't really care to discuss them, either.

The amenities portion is not part of the total score.

Between the results of this comparo, and the details of the 2004 in the same issue, I'm a very happy 2003 S2000 owner.

I stopped reading Car & Driver years ago, Auto Week is much better in every way. And you get it 52 weeks a year for around $19.95!

The features and amenities has a rightful place in the comparison. Just because our car doesn't have a lot of them doesn't mean they should abandon it. I think it says more that the S2000 came out on top despite not having near the features the other cars had. Not everyone wants a barebones sports car.
