Car Insurance, Private Seller
I'm thinking about purchasing an S2000 as a second car (weekends, nice weather days, etc.). I currently drive an Acura RDX and pay about $70/mo. for full coverage.
How much could I expect to pay to insure an S2000 as a second car. Mind you, I would only be driving one car at a time (at no point in time will both cars be driven at the same time), so I would expect my insurance rate wouldn't go up too much.
Any insight anyone can give would be most appreciates. What's considered a "good" full coverage insurance rate for someone like me? (26 year old, male, no accident history, haven't had a speeding ticket in like 3-4 years, etc.)
Thanks,
Shaun

The best I can say is to get a quote from your insurance company.
I pay ~160/mo for two cars. I added my KW suspension and my OEM hardtop to the insurance so otherwise it would be ~30/mo less. Full coverage on both cars.

I added a Honda Pilot to my S2000 on insurance, single driver. My insurance went up $100/ 6 mo (I have well above minimum coverage on both vehicles) and has since gone down to $80 on my most recent renewal.

The answer also kind of depends on where you are located. In some states you can drop coverage pretty easily during the months you won't be driving the S. I know there are some users on here who don't have coverage from January - March for example. I'm from Virginia, and it's more hassle than it's worth to do that here though. You'd have to reregister in the spring and it's not worth that added cost. There are some other incentives though, like a low mileage discount. I have it for both my cars, basically it just says that neither car will be driven > 7500 miles a year. This is fairly easy for me to ensure, so I've elected this, and it lowers the insurance ~10 a month per car.
Short story, call your insurance agent, see what your options are. I pay about $140 a month for both cars.

Hey guys,
I'm close to closing a deal to buy an S2000 from a private seller, does anyone know what I need to do to have it insured as soon as I buy it from him? Reason I ask is because, isn't the car technically not insured when I buy the car from the private seller and drive it to the insurance office?
I live in Texas, if that helps at all.
Any feedback will be most appreciated, thanks!
