Car Jack Recommendation
How good is this jack?

I need a jack that can go up to about 20" and costs under $150. Any recommendation is welcomed.

funny... exactly the jack that i have been using for several years now..
it is limited in how far it will go up, as i recall- i do usually take it to the top when i am doing an oil change. i use jack stands to spot the jack (jack it up and then let it down on the jack stands).
i like it- my car is lowered about an inch, so i have to drive it up on a coupla 2x4s to get the jack under the middle of the car. sometimes i use the honda jack on a side and then put the sears trolley jack under the middle.
its pretty good at letting the car down really slowly too... if you turn the down knob really slowly you can control how quickly it comes down. important if you are using jack stands...

www.harborfreight.com has a nice low profile alumimun jack that fits well under the car if you lower it. I've been using one for a couple of years, works gook, looks nice, not too heavy, you can take the handle apart when you need to bring it to the track. I think they are on sale for $79. Search for "low jack" on their site.

Get this one. It is strong enough for our cars (1.5 tons) and it is great for lowerd vehicles. And it is very easy to use.

Don't buy the 3 ton Sears unit. It doesn't go low enough for you to be able to get it under the car unless you drive it up onto blocks first.
I went through a couple of the 1 1/4 ton Sears jacks and wouldn't buy another one to save my soul. I do have one of the Harbor Freight aluminum ones that has done fine, although I know others who have run into reliability problems with the same unit.
For a few $$ more, you can get this one:
ToolTopia floor jack
that can lift your car from under the engine or the rear differential in about 3 or 4 pumps. Not a lightweight unit you would want to put up on a shelf, but makes getting your car up onto jack stands a piece of cake.
