guys, is there any benefit from coverting the airbox cover into carbon?
I guess not, but it looks really really cool.

I don't know how much these things cost, but I'm sure they are expensive,,,Is it worth it?

absolutely not. it'll save you maybe a few ounces of weight, and lighten your wallet by a few pounds.

Wait a minute Mingster, but there MAY be a thermal benefit to the carbon cover, since the CF insulates better than plastic. I'm not saying that it's a cost effective one, but there may be something to that. But I agree, it's not something that would be noticeable or worthwhile, I think it's almost strictly for looks...

Major cake for little to no benefit.

Intake air moves too fast to be heated by heat from under the hood. Since air is sucked in from outside the car, carbon cover or any kind of insulating cover would not make any difference.

Not sure about that one which is made by backyard special, but you can check out 1RandyC's CF Mugen intake at the following: http://www.s2000fans.com/faqs/faq_mugenintake.php

Ray, I think you're correct, but the reason that I brought it up was b/c some folks have wrapped their intake boxes with thermal insulating tape and they seem to have found some benefit...

I think it would be negligible, but thought it was worth mentioning nonetheless...

Cost is around $300 but there's a plastic version that goes for half the price. Installation is 100% bolt-on no modifications. Did it in 15 minutes
