Carpet or Styrofoam?
Many have suggested placing thick carpet or styrofoam under their tires during winter storage as a precaution for flat spotting. Has anyone used styrofoam instead of carpet? I'd rather use it a) because I already have some extra laying around and b) it seems like a better (thicker & stronger) padding. I'm curious if there is any strange chemical reaction between the rubber and the styrofoam. The last thing I want to do in the spring is pull out of the garage with styrofoam fused to my tires via some weird chemical reaction.

A car's suspension is designed to be "loaded". ie. support the weight of the car. Having it "unloaded" and just hanging there is not a natural state of being. If you're trying to "save" the suspension by "hanging" it for a few months each year, I think it's an unnecessary waste of time. I seriously doubt that a car's "hung" suspension parts will last any more miles than ones that are driven year round or just sits loaded while being stored. But if it's makes for better nights' sleep (for the owner), then go ahead.
Styrofoam or carpet? To settle the debate about "hanging my car from the rafters"...I'm not. I'm not that anal about this. Carpet or styrofoam will be fine for me thanks. In fact, I'm not even sure that is necessary but I figured, what the hell...cost a couple bucks. If it helps...
