Carpet or Styrofoam?
OhioRacer,
Why not just, once a week, back the car out of the garage and let it run for 15 minutes thus charging up the battery, getting oil up into the engine and rotating the tires to a new position. I think that letting the car sit for months on end with no activity is bad for you and the car. I usually crank up the stereo, close my eyes and pretend I am out on Rt. 26.

From what I've learned from the "experts" here, it is worse to start the car up periodically than to let it sit. The thinking being that all the oil drains out of the motor and into the oil pan. Each subsequent start is then a strain on the un-oiled parts. Made sense to me. Plus, up here we always have some poop flying from the sky. Once I cover her, she's sleeping for the winter.
OhioRacer,
My thought was that since I have Mobile1 fully synthetic installed and since it flows well at low temps and with the cylinder liners composed of a long wearing ceramic matrix of aluminum oxide and carbon fibers, I felt OK in starting her weekly. JMHO although I am no engineer.

If you're not going to put at least 15 miles of mostly open road on the car, I recommend you don't drive it.
I agree with littleton, start car every now and then. I don't think starting it this way...about 15-20 times over winter..is any worse than those that drive thier cars daily in cold areas where the car may sit outside for long periods of time. As for the carpet, put it on top of the styro, using both.
