Default Cat rattle...

is the the Cat replaceable under warantee? ...

my cat must have a broken fragment. There's a rattle at low RPM's that I've identified as coming from the Cat. I got thecar up on a lift and banged the exhaust from tail to cat and was able to identify the ratle as inside the Cat.

I have a Berk straight pipe to install but with 28K & coming up on 3 years in April perhaps I can get a new cat put in under warantee, then put in my Berk and have a brand new cat on the shelf if I want to reverse to OEM...

thanks & happy New Year!

Cat's are covered for 8years / 80,000 miles so you should be good

Not necessarily. I had the same problem with a Ford Ranger. The emissions warranty only covers the cat if it fails to do it's job. A rattle does not prevent it from functioning, so Ford would not replace it. Maybe Honda will treat you better. Especially because you still have your 3 year manufacturer's warranty left.

I work for bmw and they will not replace a cat due to a rattle because thats damage not malfunction in there eyes.

but I did warranty a cat because after it was ridden for 4 or 5 hours the fuel millage went down and it started to pop at idle from the heat....

we said it was plugged up.

I did that as a hook up for my customer.
he really was having that problem but it also rattled.

you could try to through that at the dealer and see what they say.
also say you noticed a rattle under the car in the exhaust right around the same time the popping and bad fuel millage came up.

good luck
James
