you can get a shock blanket from petsmart that will deliver a jolt to cat when they get on the soft top. I think that is the most humane way to deal with the problem..... (yes, I have a cat and yes I still think this is humane)
Well, just in case anybody has this same problem or otherwise just gives a crap, I took my car to a convertible shop and they glued another piece of material underneath the small slashes, which should prevent leaks. It looks to be the same material that Honda uses. The marks are still visible from the outside if you look closely, but who cares, it is a car not a piece of museum art. Well, it COULD be a piece of museum art but it is just my daily driver.
Anyway, the whole deal cost me $15 (compared to $900 for new top + $500 labor) so that worked out well. Also, the shop sells Lexol so I picked up a couple bottles of various leather cleaners and protectants. No leaky top, new leather stuff, Saturday is gonna be car detailing day baby!!!!
IMO I would get quotes from Porsche and Jaguar dealerships and see what they say. Or if you can find a convertible specialist, that is the route I'd recommend.
I would stay away from any Honda dealership as they would have the farthest clue on how to repair it.
