CDV .... kinda annoying
Been reading up on the CDV ,
so finally realized why when I up shift from 2nd to 3rd, it rides the clutch,
it's pretty annoying,
If I take it out, and do the quick shift from 1-2, 2-3 etc, very hard and fast,
does that in any hurt the rear diff at all?
I understand the the CDV was mainly put in to save the rear diff from launchs
thanks

the shock impact will be absorbed through the diff and the bushings moreso than before...so yes...the diff will take a beating, but only so slightly unless you're hammering through every single gear.
if you read enough posts, the wisdom seems to be to learn how to take adavantage of the CDV rather than remove it. Drivers with some apptitude can be faster with it, than cars with it removed.
Honda put it in there for a reason. I would be willing to bet a large amount of money that the engineers at Honda are substancialy smarter than we are.
I'd say leave it alone and learn how to take advantage of it.

Wow... I dont know if I remember where they were. It was not a post dedicated to CDV, but rather something on FI if I am not mistaken.
Either way, the cole's notes version is:
wait a fraction of a second between the time when you let off the clutch and get hard on the gas again when shifting. If you let off the clutch at the right time, and shift smoothly (dont jam it in) and time things right, there will be NO decrease in speed and since you are driving the car properly, will probabyl acctualy notice increases.
something to that effect...
if i run across it again, i'll post the link
