I know why Honda's engineering put in the CDV, having owned a troubled early AP1. Strictly for reliability reasons. There can't possibly be any performance benefits and for racing purposes it has to slow you down versus faster engagement.

I don't complain so much about my AP2 because I'm 100% street driving now. But if I was racing it'd be one of my first mods. Are we talking fractions of a second? Sure, but don't pretend the CDV makes anyone faster.

i drive an AP1, so i am only imparting information that i found (and subsequently can not find again.....) The OP seemed very intent on relaying that removing the CDV was a BAD idea.

I can neither agree or disagree. Nor, with my experiance, would I

Hmmm, I've read a few posts on the CDV and haven't come across the one to take advantage of it. I don't frequent the FI forum though.

.The only reason it's in there is to protect the diff. I removed mine the first week i got my car. The CDV will ruin your clutch if you drive the car hard. It slips the clutch.

I could never get the hang of the CDV on the track. From 2nd to 3rd I would burn the clutch at least once a lap. I removed it but the damage was done to my clutch and or flywheel. I still get some slight slippage.

The CDV is not the real issue. The Pressure plate is too light for the heaver AP2 flywheel. When my clutch goes out I will upgrade that for sure.

I removed mine because it annoyed the shit out of me in traffic. Slipping first gear and bucking a little bit...

let it be known that i just blew my diff on the track. cdv removed. urgh
The stock AP2 flywheel is heavy so with the cdv removed the diff takes much more abuse than an ap1 diff would. If you want to remove CDV, replace the flywheel with an AP1 or Aftermarket as well.
