i heard that it wasnt a good idea to swap out or remove JUST the CDV.

the best way to go about it is to get rid of the CDV (swap or DIY) and get a ap1 or lighter flywheel.

something about the AP2's heavier flywheel....

the real reason escapes me...someone else chime in?

Power shifting is abusing your car imo. Your not shifting any faster than you would by backing off the gas and if you are, then your synchros are paying the price. I'd swap out the stock clutch first before modiying the slave cylinder. The cdv really is a great idea. It engages the clutch gently even when you side step the clutch. The stock PP just doesn't bite hard enough once it gets hot.

I'm giong to try removing the CDV in a few weeks and see how much it helps. The response from others who have done it seem very positive and it should take no more than a few hours to complete. If it doesn't work I'll just ugrade the pressure plate after I get some good use out of the stock one. Thanks again for the advice.
It takes 20 minutes to do. Make sure you have a pick. It will fix the problem

Is it abuse? Sure, but that's racing. Did you not see where the OP mentions racing? The CDV slows the fastest possible shift. Don't pretend otherwise.

You can race your car without abusing it. I dont think racing is abuse, I think power shifting is tho.. I agree, it proabably slows shifts.

You want to beat the other guy? Speed shift (power shift in the 1/4 mile). Otherwise you're not racing, you're lapping.

Upgraded Pressure Plate is the answer, in conjuction with a CDV removal.

Since I've upgraded, I can chirp 1-2, 2-3, and 3-4 (if the surface is slick)

Mandatory for all AP2s (IMO should come like this from Suzuka )
- CDV removal
- Spoon or Comptech flywheel
- ACT pressure plate
- Hondata reflash
- 225 front and 255 rear tires

But really, unless you're at the drag strip trying to win that $25k prize, or entering your car in SCCA T3, I'd rather not explode my rear diff than be able to get on the gas .05 seconds faster after letting out the clutch.
