I could lease a leftover 2000 s2000 for about $385 per month or lease a 2001 for about $420 per month.
Financing a 300zx , Supra or Corvette is gonna be anywhere from $350 per month to well over $600 per month for a 2 year old Vette.
Besides I am sure the s2000 is gonna get much better gas mileage and according to my insurance company their is NO sports car premium for the s2000 (cost about $75 per year MORE that my Probe) The Vette, 300zx, and Supra would end up costing me hundreds more per year.
So as you can see, leasing an S2000 is the more economical way out. Then in 3 years if I am bored (I have a very short attention span, thats why I have never owned one car for more than 11 consecutive months) with the car i can get something else.
So what about the fuel economy ?
Is anyone geting 25mpg ?
When I had my Integra GSR I got 29-30 mpg 99.9 % of the time.
I am thinging next winter I could just buy a POS Subaru 4x4 wagon for the days its snowy and rainy out.

If you are concerned about fuel economy, go get yourself a diesel Jetta. Just my $.02

My best was 29.6 mpg, and that was not driving very conservatively either, as it included several vtec encounters and, well, excessive highway speed....started off around 25.8 mpg when new and keeps getting better, with about 1800 miles on it now. My average speed on long trips is about 65 mph, and that includes stopping for tolls, gas, etc. I read where someone here set the cruise control on 70 for a 200+ mile trip and only averaged 26 mpg though, so I guess it depends on the car.

tom717 - The emblem is Cavalleresco's emblem.

What's with all this talk about 20+ mpg's? The best I ever gotten was 18mpg! That's with one trip into VTEC. If I my dad ever made me pay for gas, I'd end up taking public transportation!

When I don't VTEC at all (only happened when I was breaking it in), I had 22-23 mpg. When I do VTEC a lot, it's a different story.

If your insurance company is not rating the S2000 as a sports car, beware that they might change it after you get the car and you might end up with a renewal SHOCK!

My S2000 cost more to insure than my 99 Vette coupe did. 26/m no tickets, 1 accident 3 years ago.

Would hate to see you get the car, then find out that after 6 months you cant afford the insurance.

FWIW, the C5 has relatively cheap insurance because the insurance companies had a lot of say in the design of the car. This is why the C5 lost the clamshell hood the C4 had, and why the C5 has seperate rear fenders compared to the C4's single sheet construction.

Gas mileage? I average 22, 23, that's with the occasional vtec, mostly city miles.
