Default Center console area gets hot?

I noticed tonight that the foot wells of my car are a lot hotter than I'm use to.

Is this normal for the area below the center console to feel warm/hot?

Yes. This has been a regular issue since the inception of the S. The tranny runs directly beneath the console and it does get warm. On the up side if the weather gets cool it does keep your coffee warm.

I've noticed the console gets hotter if my AC on recirc, go figure. The exhaust is partly under there as well.
