I saw two S2K at a used car dealer and saw that the area behind the cup holder had an open tray for coins. My car has a rear defroster switch behind the cup holder but I don't have a rear defroster (01). Is it possible for me to switch to the coin holder since I have no use for the defrost button?

 

You have the hardtop option installed then...do you have a hardtop?

That's the only reason for the switch on a MY01. If you don't have the hardtop you could probably buy the part and replace the switch.

Sounds like the car used to have a hardtop. It's likely (although I can't say from firsthand observation) that maybe the defroster controller has been placed in the coin holder. MY '02 has a coin holder, of that I know.

 

anybody with a hardtop wanna trade center console for one with the coin holder? I don't plan on buying a hard top. It has a defroster switch and extra button.

 

Looks like someone got ripped off for a Hardtop...

check on Ebay... there's a guy from a dealer selling a white hardtop separately from the car, to make more money off of it....

Even though the hardtop was included with the used car!

The place where you bought the S2000 probably sold the Hardtop before you bought the car or ( the guy you previously owned the car sold it) to make more money off of it..... That's a sure bet!
