I was wondering if installing chains on my s2k to take it up to the mountains would in anyway harm the vehicle? If the only problem will be the rocks hitting the bottom of the bumpers..I will put some tape around those areas. Any idea?

"Because your Honda has limited tire clearance, mount only SAE Class "S" cable-type traction devices on the rear tires...
Metal link-type "chains" should not be used. No matter how tight they seem to be installed, they can come into contact with the body and the suspension..."

www.honda.co.jp used to have a plastic chain option for the S2000.

http://www.japanparts.com/HondaParts/S2000/Wheel.htm lists a Japanese made rear chain option for the S2000.

 

Don't put chains on please. It's a sports car not a snow mobile. I know it's your car and, yes, you are welcome to do as you please, but think about it. How upset with yourself are you going to be when some gets scratched/ tore up/ broken/ or worse? JMHO

The only owners that I know of who can "officially" purchase the Honda plastic chains are those in Japan. You should go to their forum and ask this question.
