Finally, here's my version of the "GhostBooster"... I must first thank Koejing + Davepk for all of their technical development work. My "amateur design" circuit was done completely out of necessity: I had a hard time making clean solder connections that spanned multiple holes on the Radio Shack ProtoBoard... In other words: I made a huge mess! I came absolutely nowhere near the elegance of davepk's circuit, so I etched my own circuitboard using a Radio Shack etch kit which solved the difficult soldering job.

If there is anyone out there with soldering skills like mine, make your own board (just drill the holes first before drawing the circuit or etching)... Here are my AMATEUR results:

Maybe we could send the circuit diagram out to a professional shop and have it done well?

BTW, when is Comptech going to deliver a 'real' solution like this?

hecash,

I ordered a stock Stook MAP sensor from HondaAutomotiveParts.com... I wasn't going to mess around and get an incorrect MAP sensor...

FOR FUTURE GHOSTBOOSTER BUILDERS:

I am going to build a "plug'n'play" ghostbooster to mount in the engine compartment.

I don't know about junkyards everywhere, but at this junkyard (specialized in japanese cars - accord, acura, civic, prelude) every car was stripped to the bone, engines GONE. If something was part of the engine (like our MAP sensor), it went with the engine, including the harness.

However, in the civics, there is a model year range that had the MAP sensor mounted on the rear wall (fire wall?) of the engine compartment. In this case, the sensor and connector were still on the car. I managed to get two mating (female) connectors from the harness and I pulled one map sensor to use as a male mating connector. It's going to be a bitch getting into the MAP because it looks like a one piece molded body. Sorry, but I don't know the model years of the civics. The MAP sensor p/n is 079800-1691, 5V PS-22, so you might be able to use this to determine model year if anyone else is interested.

RT,

The MAP sensor I used is identical to the stock one (I ordered it from HondaAutomotiveParts.com... Majestic Honda). I felt better using the same as the original...

Question for all you,

Is Mike B. at Comptech going to make any R&D restitutions to you for figuring out the kinks in an "already R&D'd" supercharger kit?

The expenses you guys have incurred in trying to build the ghost boost unit needs to be reversed back to Comptech....and the knowledge gained by Comptech from your all's R&D needs to be paid for. After all, with your all's solution to the problem is going to help sell more Comptech Superchargers....

After spending the kind of money that you guys did in purchasing these kits, there's plenty of reason why it should bother you all.

It's the pure damn aggrivation of feeling like a pure-bred guppy. I should have waited to see it perform rather than buying on reputation.

I'm too damn old to be doing stupid things like this!

Only Shadow and Mike B knows that fate.

Good idea, though!

The aggrivation caused would be the factor, in a court of law, for you all to get your money back for the system, the labor, any R&D time, plus any damage caused to the car. Was there a disclaimer anywhere on either the box or from the company before buying the supercharger saying that you are buying a non-beta tested supercharger kit? Was there a disclaimer informing you that even dropping the thousands of dollars on the kit, the supercharger system may not work properly?

I am upset for you all. This is not right, and characterizes Comptech in a very bad light. I thought they were supposed to have a better reputation than that.

hecash:

I just started - wanted to find those connectors and an old map sensor before I did anything else. I need to get everything else. Next step is to find a source for the ICs; the local place I used to know about years ago is gone

If I think I have hit upon something easy, neat or good in general, I will post.

luder94:
I don't really expect anything from comptech from all this and I doubt if anybody else does. Unfortunately, an electronic fix retrofit for them would not be cheap. Plus, I have talked with Shad and anything they come up with, even if adopted from this forum has to be tested out the a** before they make it public. Just the CARB certification of even minor changes costs them thousands of dollars.

On the other hand, it would be real nice to get a good discount on this intercooler I have heard about for those of us that have had to make our own electronic fix
(are you listening, Mike?)
