which would be better for parking on a hill, putting it it first or in reverse? does it matter which gear you leave it on?
First if you are facing uphill
Reverse if you are facing downhill

Has more to do with the gear ratio rather than if it's a "forward" or "reverse" gear. Make sure you turn the wheels so that the car rests against the curb if it does slide rather than freely rolling down the hill straight.

Even if left in gear, an S2000 can roll down a hill. You should still always leave the car in gear though, and use the parking brake, and turn the wheel into the curb if you can.
good info

I always do all of the above, but I'm wondering how putting it into gear after engaging the brake is better than the other order.
if you first put it in gear then the stress of holding the car is on the gear but if the car is held first by the ebrake then you put it into gear just in case.

The engine spins the same way regardless of the gear you place it in.

1st is better as it's a lower gear than reverse.

Brake pads can expand a little when they get hot so the park brakes can loose some of their grip as they cool down.
That was my guess, Me and a friend were out really getting on the car, but we were in some real twisty roads,so the brakes were warmd up I guess. When we got to another freinds house I parked in his driveway(20 degree incline maybe) got out and went inside. My freind yells acorss the house like 20 mins later. "Yo Pete, why did you park in the middle of the street?" lol lucky nothing bad happend, people were just driving around it. Ever since when ever im on an incline I really yank on the ebrake.

always pull the e-brake and leave it in gear, and don't forget to twist the wheels so it can turn into the curb.

i was once in a hurry that i left the S in neutral with no gear engaged , when i came back the S was in the middle of the parking lot stopping traffic. lol i got lucky i didn't anything.
