I bought my 04' about a month ago with 23k on it. Decided to change the tranny fluid right away figuring it had never been done before. I was also disappointed before how notchy the shifting was and thought that might of been from the driving the previous owner, but he was an older guy who was about to retire who babied the car so it didn't really make sense.

I picked up 2 quarts of Honda MTF from the local dealer last weekend and the notchiness is now almost completely gone besides the occasional 1st-2nd shift or before it's warmed up.

So to anyone who is experiencing notchiness or approaching 20-20k miles...spend the $15 and 30 minutes and change your tranny fluid The old fluid was pretty dark so it was def needed.

Is this same fluid used from the factory?

 

if your 04 had the oem fluid, then no. the new honda mtf with the white cap came out maybe a year ago.
