Default changes in behaviour since you're driving an s2k ?

For one week now I'm the proud owner of a '02 and am just reflecting on my own behaviour and customs. I must say, they changed quite a bit...

1) On days I where I drive it, I no longer dress the way I usually did. In a business shirt, nice pants and jacket I just feel stupid in that car - so smugly. => Jeans, cool shirt, leather jacket and ray bans

2) Instead of choosing the shortest, most economic and fastest route I suddenly start driving long ways around through the country-side, make city tours, etc.

3) Instead of relaxing in a bar, I'm jupmy, worrying about my car in the lot (o.k., a friend promised me this will pass at around 10'000 miles )

4) I never bought any mods for a car before - it was more like a moving tool for me. But now I buy carpets for hundreds of $, rick badges, cool rims, etc. ? How come ?!?

5) I find it hard to focus during work. Always think of my little beauty, want to go out and ride it. Or I spend hours of "unproductive" time in this forum (e.g. 10 mins writing a documentation against 1h @s2ki)

6) I won't mention here what happens when we're VTEC'ing

Another interesting thing is that I'm avoiding certain persons now - ones that I thought of friend's or colleagues before. They showed so much enviousness that I told myself "If you really were my friend you would not begrudge it to me that much..." At first a frustrating experience but I think it's for the better in the end...

So, I was wondering, what happened to you after you bought your S2k ? Any noticable changes in your personality ?

neuweiler

PS: While writing this I was looking at a lady parking sideways in a lot with about 2m (!) of spare space - touching the front car once and the rear twice, quite hard. So there really IS reason to worry !

Nothing against female drivers but I only observed this rather strange behaviour with this gender...

LOL, that's pretty funny. I think the only differences I see after getting my S are the following:

- I get plenty of stares from passers-by
- I get plenty of stares from passers-by wondering WTF is this guy doing drivig with the top down in 35 degree weather.
- You get a lot of questions about the car ie...dat one a dem ferraris; momma lookie, its the car from The Fast and The Furious; are you rich??; How fast have you taken her up to??;
-I find every reason to drive the car at the most inopportune time.
- I get paranoid when my wife pulls into the garage with her BIG GMC Yukon, I try to make sure that the car has at least enough space so that nothing can fall on it , hit it, or damage it in any way
- and basically everything else that was posted above.

Well said!!

My daughters have offered to purchase walking shoes for my wife (I always park extreme distances from the "up front" spots.

I assue my car is "justified right" on the right side of our garage to stay clear of car doors.

I find it hard just getting out of the car (without checking the interior to assure it's not dusty, etc.)

Yes; it's a sickness but what's the alternative?? Driving a "hubcap" car!!!!

I must agree with you on ALL points, and I make an additional point. With my previous car, I was never agressive, rarely sped, never took risks etc. Within a week of owning my S2000 I nearly killed myself three times one day on the way to work I'm trying to chill even more, but damn this car is goooood

Bruce: I have designated the right side of the garage as the S2000 side. That's really funny

neuweiler,

You are soooo right on the money with your comments!

I have noticed several changes in my life.

1. Envious friends that don't seem to understand this is true love.

2. Massive paranoia about everything I read about the car (ie TSB's) and anything getting near my baby.

3. I cleaned out a single car garage just for my S2k, my wife and the kids bikes are on the double door side, in a land far far away.

4. I never considered a full line of detailing products but now I can't wait for my delivery of the Zaino stuff.

5. I am learning to pack light! Did you notice the 400 pound weight restriction?

6. I'm thinking I don't make enough money for all the mods I want! I am compiling a gift list of "Rick's Accessories" for any of my friends and family kind enough to contribute to my addiction.

7. I actually named the car, am I insane? I never named a car until now.

This car is a dream come true, every since I saw the drawings for the SSM in 1995, I knew I had to have one some day.

Obsessive compulsive addiction is the only way I can describe it

Agree with everything said above plus it has brought my children closer to me. All three of my kids suddenly want DAD to take them everywhere

Its the exact opposite for me in my S. this being my third sports car at the age of 24, this is the first one i really do drive slow and relaxed on the street. i have always been crazy about my cars, and this one by far the most. so trust me when i tell you that you are not the only one that parks way in the back in two spots.
This is the first one i have tracked though and i believe that is what has made a huge difference. Since that first track day, i have never had the urge to speed on streets again. but then again, that may also be growing up (that is no way any disrespect)
