ok i've heard many of you have replaced the stock speakers with after market ones. my questions are will they sound much better even though i opt to use the factory amp. also what models will fit without any modification to the door panel. (Brand and model numbers please) also opinions on the best sounding ones...

Thanks Guys.

Sony X-plode 1621's are a drop fit. If you order from Crutchfield they'll throw in an Acura wire adapter making this true plug and play (adapter is free just ask for it). You can also go to the Sony 1631's but have to cut out the back of the mounting basket.

DJHohum,

After lots of thinking and negotiating with myself, I decided to do a full blown change with separate component speakers and installing an amp. Of course, this involved cutting holes in the door and modifying the speaker baskets, but the sound improvement is so incredibly good that I had stereo installation people asking me and letting me confirm it twice that I did not have a subwoofer installed in the car.

Although it was quite a job, the result was/is far (really, really far) beyond my wildest expectations!

You will NOT regret putting the right stuff in the first time!

Even driving with the top off, I can actually hear and feel the music! (NO subwoofer!!)

Let us know what you decide to do!!
