check engine light...
my check engine indicator light came on today after only 400 miles on the odometer. i checked the fuel cap and everything appears to be fine. has anyone had this prob when their s2k was brand new?? what can the problem be?? this is a brand new car that is still in its breakin period. i have been driving the car very gently and i've made sure that the oil is at its proper level. this really sucks...
btw, anyone familiar with the lemon law?? what constitutes a car to be a lemon and what legal actions can an individual take if his/her car qualifies as a lemon??

I think it might be a bit premature to be talking about a "lemon" just because of a CEL. It could be something very simple. Another Calgary owner got a CEL the week he had the car. Turned out to be a loose connection on one of the engine sensors. He has no other problems since. Take it to your dealer. A CEL will show a code immediately and they'll be able to know which sensor it is and "hopefully", it will be a simple fix.
It could be the gas cap. I think the CEL stays on after an error occurs even when you correct the error until it is reset. I might be wrong. At 400 miles, your dealer will scan for you at no charge, I'm sure, and tell you just what it is. If it is not the gas cap, it could easily be a bad MAP sensor or something else minor and simple.
I believe a flashing CEL indicates more serious problems and an illuminated but not-flashing CEL is usually something minor with the pollution control system. Post back here after you find out what it is.
You could reset it by pulling a certain fuse, but, I'd suggest letting the dealer scan it first. Or you might buy a scan tool yourself. I got one a couple years ago here on a group buy and I really like it.
