Check engine light or maintenance required light.

For CEL, no.

He's asking which of the two lights you're seeing.

Check Engine Light comes on ONLY if there is a problem.
Maintenance Required light comes on at regular mileage intervals, which might or might not happen at 90k miles.

Based only on your miles, you may be getting a CEL as you're due for a valve adjustment and it's way off causing a misfire.

That said, pull the codes. And stop driving it.!

If its the CEL, it could be anything. Just pull the code and see what it is. It could be something as simple as a loose gas cap. If its the Maint Req light, that one comes on every so many miles reminding you to do an oil change.

He's trying to verify whether you're referring to the light correctly or not. There's a CEL and a maintenance minder light. It's not uncommon for people to refer to them incorrectly. What exactly does the indicator light look like?

If the guy has owned the car for 90k dont you think he would know what the maintance light is? In the whole time he owned the car he never changed the oil?

Who said he's owned the car for 90k miles? If he was the original owner, I'd think he'd be familiar with the owner's manual. I suspect he's not the original owner.
