Thumbs up Checking Oil...

I just got a S2k and love it. Now I don't know what kind of oil is in there now. Is there a way I can tell? When I check the dip stick, it like a yellow piss like color. It's not thick at all. I'm thinking it's synthetic but not sure. I need to know so when I go get an oil change.

Also, when I do check the dip stick, it's hard to tell where it's at as far as low medium high? Does anyone else have this problem?

Thanks....

Used? Change all the fluides, just to be on the safe side. Check the manual. Read; The OIL JOURNALS! Everything you wanted to know about oil but were afraid to ask! @ https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=195574

Pull dip stick, wipe clean, insert. wait 5 seconds, pull out, turn it upside down and look at were the drop just starts to form on the XXXs. Repeat until you are sure of the level. Do not overfill.

Thanks for the reply. Yea it's used and it didn't come with the manual. I'm in process of getting one.

I will change all fluids this weekend. I did get it from an Infinity car dealer.

Do you think some Mechanic would be able to tell what kind of oil (NOT BRAND) is in the car?

Depends on the mechanic. But don't worry about what's in it now. Just make the change to synthetic if it's not and stick to synthetic if it is already. This will alleviate any need to know what oil is in it. Congrats on a great buy and good !

Did you check in the secret compartment for the owner's manual?

Alot of people find it in there!

I agree with the fluids change.........put all new fluids in. Depending on mileage, you should consider motor oil, tranny fluid, diff fluid, brake fluid, intake filter.........even the interior cabin filter. Not to freak you out or anything, but these are all pretty easy to D.I.Y. (if you are that type).

Where is the secret compartment? Is it the one in the trunk with a little cover?
