Okay...here is a question.....if a guy...a really cool guy lets say....wanted a very specific color combo...like maybe white/red...and the dealer in Chicago charged him pretty much sticker for that still new 2002 model that they had to get from Missouri...did he get hosed? Or is that acceptable considering the rarity of the car he wanted? Just curious.....

S2K got a deal on a new '02 white/red for $29,300 plus a low APR.

Dealer invoice on an '03 is supposed to be $29,786. There is $978 in holdback on the car, so the cheapest a dealer could sell the car (and not lose money) would be $28,808. Of course, if Honda puts some incentives in for the dealer then they could go lower.

Looks like Grand Honda is $461 under invoice and will make $517 once they get their holdback check. Unless they are adding a lot of high dealer fees (doc fee, etc) then this looks like about as low as you can expect to find. It would be hard to get another dealer to go this low - below cost - and wait to make a "profit" from the holdback.

The key to a lot of things in life is patience. Waiting for the right deal on the right car can save you lots of bucks. Obviously, waiting for a discount dealer to get an allocation of a MY2003 white/tan would have saved some money.

Question:

How do you tell when most car dealers are telling you lies?

Answer:

Their lips are moving

I should mention that the S2KI discount car dealers I talked to during my search (Lou and Jeff) and a some other dealers I talked to were real straight-shooters. Of course, I talked to a LOT of other dealers who were not
