Chip Magnet
Its really bad on my Rio. I don't know why Honda insisted on molding the bumper in black. They should have molded it in white. Every chip is a black spot, and the contrast between yellow and black is very great. Which means there are literally more than 40 chips on my font bumper, one long chip in the hood (2" long), both mirror have a long chip about 2" long also, in them as well. Maybe some day I will get the front bumper repainted and do a clear bra. But yes the paint is very thin. There are also chips along the rocker panel below the doors. But the font looks fine from 10 ft away.
I can make the paint chips unnoticeable from any more than 6" away after some (okay, a lot of) detailing work, but the clear bra is noticeable from 5 feet away.
I've got a good bit of rock chips on mine as well. I was going to clear bra the front until I saw that at this point it's not really worth it. Might get it resprayed in a few years and then clear it. Until then I'll have to settle for it always "looking dirty."
Agreed, this paint is horrible. I'm picking up new chips on an almost weekly basis. Meanwhile my 11 year old celica (driven on the same roads as the S) barely has any at all. I can touch them up, but more will pop up in their place.
Thanks Everyone,
I was going to clear bra my s2000 but decided not too. This care was meant for driving, although it looks good, that's not the point, the drive is what matters, paint chips are inevitable and I'll just live with that...paint/sand/clear then repeat.
