Default Chirping 2nd

Hey guys, I think I'm a pretty good driver. I have netted good times with all my previous cars, but I can't seem to break the tires loose in second. I have 900 miles and have never launched the car because of there not being a need for it. Is it because of the tires being new and gripping so well or I am just not shifting right? Thanks guys..

ARGH!!! My least favorite topic rears its head again.

CompTech -

First of all, welcome. Congrat's on your car and congrat's on finding the best site on the net for this fine car. You'll find a great group of owners and enthusiasts here.

I don't want to come off brash or mean nor do I want you to hesitate to post. However.... in the future, you may want to take a quick second and use the search function. It's in the upper right hand corner of the main forum screen. No harm, no foul and I hope you don't feel like I'm railing on you.

This topic has been covered literally a thousand times. I did quick search using the keyword chirp and came across these hits. Check this link. You'll find all of your questions on this subject have surely been answered.

Again, congrat's on your purchase and welcome to the board.

Wrong car again. Get the 350Z, you can chirp 2nd all day long.........
People buy S2K for its traction, not to lose traction.

Recently, there are lots of S2K owners on here that might have bought the wrong car.... ....very sad.......

Well, I can appreciate the traction the car provides, but every so often, you've just got to let it all hang out.

Two reasons you can't chirp are the overly high final drive ratio and the wimpiest clutch ever put in a sports car. It has nothing to do with the engine itself.

Does the NSX have the above problems?

You guys seriously can't chirp second? I literally almost break the rear tires totally loose on a hard shift to second.....if I really am really shifting well I can occationally lightly chirp third. 2002 totally stock with 9500 miles.

When I had my Kuhmos, I could chirp 2nd and 3rd easily. I've chirped 4th gear on rare occasions, as well. When I went back to stock S02s, chirping became really hard (contribute that to the sticky a$$ compound). Oh well, with some finesse I can still chirp 2nd with the S02s (no more 3rd though ).

I can easily chirp when shifting to second.. Love it!! Maybe it's because my tires are worn down...

You arn't the only one with the "retarded" 2nd gear grind. However, mine only seems to grind when I upshift into 2nd between 3000-5500rpms. Anything above or below doesn't seem to cause it to grind. I also can't chirp 2nd gear at all and I think this terribly wimpy clutch has to have part of the blame for that.
