Cigarette lighter / 12 volt accesory outlet?
Well I broke my 12 volt accessory outlet today when charging my cel, when I went to remove the charger, I pulled the entire assy out. I had been noticing it was getting looser and looser. Has anyone modified theirs after breaking it to make it hold better, its only a tiny plastic tab that holds it in place.
I've thought it was a pretty cheap design as well, mine is very loose and I can move it all around, but it works just fine thus far. I don't really unplug my charger from it though. I'd definitely be careful with it, it slides around a lot.
jsymply, thats exactly how mine was before it broke. Looks like you only have to replace the cap , thats what holds it in place. Tried ordering it online, but the cap was $2.00 and shipping was $10, LOL, so i guess i will just order it from my local dealer.
hmm...the outlet is actually two pieces... If you take your glove box out you can tighten the back of it up and it will be good as new. It's like a sleeve that holds it in place. Sounds like a lot of people's sleeves have actually came completely loose causing the outlet to come out

Honda will fix this if your car is still under warranty. Mine did the same thing - screw retaining thing in the back worked loose and the accessory port popped out.
If your hands are small, you can do this:
1. Remove center console, remove two screws below accessory port
2. Pull seats forward
3. Remove the trim behind the seats (the ones with the "hooks" and grill)
4. Remove the screw on the inboard side of each panel
5. You can now lift up the center glovebox about 4" or so and get a hand underneath there. Shove the port back in, and fish around until you get the back part (it's still on the wiring harness).
6. Thread the retaining part and tighten as much as possible.
7. Button up the interior.
