Civic Si vs. S2000 (AP1)
All - Hi, everyone. First post. I have been considering a cheap beater, specifically a Honda for ~$20k-ish. I am sure this has been discussed before, but give me your thoughts on a new 2007 Civic Si (w/ NAV and warranty) vs. low mileage (<20k miles) AP1 S2000 in the same price range.
I am open to all comments, but let's play nice please.
Thank you,
Eggman.

I went through the same decision (then I ended up with a brand new s2k, go figure).
The si is a great car and it's a blast to drive. The interior and seats are also very nice for the price. I guess it really depends on your needs. I'm 24, no kids, no real need for a lot of space in a daily driver so I said, if i'm going to get a roadster now is the time.

A lot depends on what you need to do with this beater. If you're looking for economy and plenty of trunk space with decent performance and handling then the Si is hard to beat. But I think the -ish will be about 5K on top of the 20K if you want the Navi and decent wheels and tires.
On the other hand, if you're looking for a sports car rather than a sporty car then...well...you know.

Only thing a SI has over a s2000 is that if you are going to mod the car the parts will be cheaper.
My friend has an 06 si and if I drive it I feel like im driving a boat with the big dash. When accelerating, being front wheel drive the front end lifts up and feels like you are going over a wave?

Called an S2000 a beater...
These are two different cars... perhaps you should evaluate what you need out of this purchase and buying appropriately. Looking at your list of cars (Z and FD) I think you're better off with the Civic since those two cars aren't exactly known for being practical/economical/completely reliable. I love the new Civic, just wish it was rwd : / but still a solid car.

the new si is pretty quick for it price..but i would rather get Rsx-S myself..cause i think it looks more aggressive..but for the s2k..you gonna enjoy every moment you had..Speed..Fast..Pimp w/ the top down..to me personally is a whole different car..top down u ready to go pimping lol
The only thing those two cars (used S versus new Si) have in common is the price range. It's pointless to discuss them in the same context. If you want a comfy daily driver with a new car warranty, get the Si. It's plenty sporty and good for what it is.
If you're willing to sacrifice some comfort for one of the finest examples of a modern-day roadster, get the S.
