I guess its a cool thing, but the current K series line up can easily make this power and is cheaper and readily available, I guess I don't really see the advantage here.

I heard this crate engine will only be available to "certified" race teams. Meaning you can't just stroll into a Honda dealership and order one...

The advantages are, flat torque curve throughout RPM range, higher power potential, reliability, no turbo lag compare to aftermarket setup, newer technology such as direct injection etc. and packaging. Honda spent millions of dollars and thousands of man hours developing and testing this engine. I don't think any aftermarket K series can offer all those at the same price point.
