Default CL-S to S2K

Anybody gone up from an Acura CL Type-S to an S-2000?

Just wanted to know what motivated you the change.

Still having a hard time on whether to trade it in for the S. Really love the 2 seater, 9000rpm redline, plus the 6 speed.

Really love the low end torque of a V-6, but I find the S2000 more fun drive, plus its a convertible (test drove one about 2 months ago)...

Any thoughts?

Seeing another Chicago person, thought I'd chime in. I personally think it would be hard to have an S2000 as your only car, I don't know if that's the case for you. You'd need a set of winter wheels/tires at the very least. Other than that, the S2000 is a wonderful roadster. Nothing really like it on the market. Exhilirating!! Moving from the CL, you're giving up a Bose sound system (aftermarket can take care of this), and the low-end thing. Again, personally I found the S2000 great around town as well as on the highway. You just gotta work for it, shifting, but the shifting is a joy with a tranny like the S. I never get bored of the car.

Living in the mid-west, Winter tires are a must, as you say.. no problem with that ... being an RWD...

How does the car drive on the snow with/without snow tires? That was my main concern, the S2K will be my only car (besides my wife's 330i)... I find my CL-S a blast to drive, but the S2k is just more fun...

Im in the exact same boat as you... I just got my CL-type S with Nav and I love the car but after my friend on this board got his s2000 last week.. Im debating either keep it or not... hey are you on the Acura-cl.com site? Anyways.. I dont know how to drive manual but this week Ive been practicing just in case Im ready for the change... its a big change after you drive the CL.. where its speed and total luxery but s2000 is total sports car with barely any luxery.. but its convertable damnn it hahha.. good luck in your decision Im still debating..

I have a 2000 TL (TL-P), I agree with the torque, you can trade your cl-s in for a cl-s 6spd, that way u still have all those torque, the room, the navi, and other stuff s2k doesn't have. As for S2k, its an awsome sports roadster, 9k redline, smooth 6spd, and handling beyond cl-s. Hope that helps .

I had an '01 CL-S. Beautiful car. Comfortable, fast, really nice engine. I just got so bored with the A/T. It all depends on what you want the car for. The S2k is a different world. It's the most fun drive I've ever had. As nice as the CL is. it feels like a banana barge in comparison.
